Make a comment on a topic I don't know much about but it apparently becomes a popular thread and I hear a lot of opinions.

Kinja'd!!!

seriously though , I don't follow a lot of racing. In fact following sports bugs me because I spent too many years around people that let million dollar contracted athletes play a game poorly and ruin their week. He played poorly yes, but he's going home to his mansion and super model wife. You're letting his performance ruin your week? No, stop that and shame on you.

But to bring it back to relevance... Should I watch more racing events? Of course. Do I think only the first and last 10 minutes of a NASCAR race are interesting? Yes. Would I rather watch the highlights of the 24 hour le mans race instead of hour after hour? Yeah, pretty much. Do I think F1 is awesome but don't know the difference between last season's nose and this season's penis nose? Pretty much.

But you know what, I'll gladly go change my oil or spend hours of a Saturday washing and waxing my car, making sure the polish is just right. I know where every noise and creak is coming from and what temperature it has to be to hear it. Hell I'll even drive with the top and windows down and radio off just to listen to my Frankenstein exhaust.

My ride may not be the fastest, it's definitely not a Miata or a FiST, I may not follow many races on tv or know who such and such driver is, I even think the new Buick cascada isn't half bad. But you know what? I like cars. I like them in my own right. I didn't go to school to understand them but I took it under myself to understand how they work, how different types work.. all just to understand this obscure to so many world.

But that's where you come in Oppo. You have drivers of insanely amazing cars, beaters being brought to life and even high schoolers bargaining with their parents for their first ride. You're willing to vomit knowledge about anything and everything from cars to computers or even life itself. Sure we have our moments (Gundam Takeover) but there are few groups where I know I can post a question and expect an answer instead of some half dickwit response (though the answer may be hidden in said dickwit response).

So yeah, this has trailed off a lot but the important points have been made. Continue being glorious you bastards and stay Oppo.

That article is the extent of my NASCAR knowledge. I'm also getting a lot of opinions. I also don't follow racing and consider myself a car person. I feel like I should acknowledge it for the sole purpose of being able to bring it up in conversation and possibly relate to someone I normally couldn't. Same concept for other sports.
